In the past two weeks, I have had a lot of conversations about nutrition and on how to plan better for the week. When it comes to eating clean the biggest thing is setting up a plan. Once the plan is set then it is about execution and sticking to that. We always say set up patterns so it becomes a routine. When it’s a routine you don’t think it is a lot of work. It might seem a lot to begin with but once you get started (just like any CrossFit WOD) the goal is achievable.
In the photo below is the board that Tera and I use for planning our meals each week. We take around ten minutes on Sundays as we are making our big Sunday feast to plan the meals for the majority of the week. When doing this we have found it so much easier through the week to be organize first thing in the morning and less chance of getting derailed at lunch or evening for opting to hit up some fast food.
On the board you will notice that we even included what things to buy during the week. This helps the conversation when someone is going to be stopping to pick up a few things we know exactly what we need.
On the list there are few items which we will explain how to do. In the photo below is the oatmeal recipe. I am not an oatmeal guy so was a little skeptical about this but it honestly tasted like carrot cake .We found this off of the IG account @feedingthefrasers. This is Matt Fraser partner who enjoys cooking and does a lot of it for the Champion. I recommend following her. She called it Carrot Cake Overnight Oat:
· 3 cups Steel Cut oats
· 1 cup shredded carrot
· 1 cup pineapple juice or coconut milk
· 4 cups water
· ½ cup maple syrup
· 2 tsp nutmeg
· 3 tbsp cinnamon
The topping is:
· 2 oz cream cheese
· ½ cup vanilla yogurt
· 2 tbsp maple syrup
Throw all the oatmeal ingredients in a slow cooker before you go to bed. Turn it on and 6-8 hours later it is ready. Mix the topping ingredients together and throw it on top. Taste like carrot cake!! Now will warn you it makes a lot so hope you are hungry.
